The Virginia Tech Center for Survey Research (CSR) was established to respond to the growing needs of the campus, community, state and nation for the professional, accurate, and timely collection and analysis of social and demographic data.

The Center for Survey Research conducts research design consultation, telephone surveys, mail surveys, and web-based surveys, statistical analyses, and other vital data functions for virtually every area of social research, evaluation, and policy analysis. The CSR completes 50-65 research projects annually.

The Center for Survey Research completes research for faculty researchers from a variety of disciplines with grants and contracts awarded to the university; for civic, local, and regional governmental organizations; for state agencies, both in and outside of Virginia; for federally funded programs and agencies; for non-governmental and private sector organizations; and for the university administration via surveys related to campus life, policy, and institutional effectiveness.
